Everyone!
Deeply appreciated patrons, masters’ series season ticket-holders, afficionados of pops, light classics, cross-over and film music. Tour Italia! is for audiences of all ages and background. With its deep roots in the classical literature and a light, engaging narration, anyone seeking a fun and culturally satisfying concert will be thrilled with this program. Families, artists, intellectuals, and of course, all “travel-o-philes” yearning to get out and explore the globe again, will hold fond and appreciative memories of this musical eyeopener.
This inaugural concert, Tour Italia!, reflects Emmanuel Fratianni’s personal connection with his mother country and the film music of Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota. Informed by his many years of experience in Hollywood both as a composer and orchestrator Mo. Fratianni brings insights to the works of these two masters with anecdotes about their unique creative process and relationships with directors such as Fellini, Coppola and Sergio Leone.
Introducing the sounds of his childhood spent in Southern Italy, as a “contorno” Mo. Fratianni revisits Neapolitan art songs as well as selected works of Ottorino Respighi, whose influence on the lyricism and creativity of Italian film composers is notable. As a “dessert” Emmanuel introduces for the first time to symphony audiences guest vocalist Giovanna Gattuso whose warmth and stage presence is well recognized on the Italian music scene.
“Musical Postcards” are the inspiration behind Travelogues®, the symphonic/pops concert series, produced by Collective Media Concerts and created by Conductor Emmanuel Fratianni.
Starting with Emmanuel’s native Italy in Tour Italia®!, a Travelogues program traverses the intersection of a country’s rich classical music history, its film music, popular songs and its native traditions. Seamed together from a narrative of regional anecdotes, composer histories and family stories, Mo. Fratianni plots a course of delightful and satisfying concert presentations - A symphonic road trip through a country’s beautiful and complex cultural fabric.
